August Activity: Dragonflies at Santee Lakes

For our August activity, please join us at Santee Lakes for Dragonfly Photography with our president Steve Cirone. Dragonflies are active during the day – when we meet at 10 in the morning they’re still warming up and are a lot more static, that makes photographing them easier.

July Activity: Pacific Southwest Railroad Museum, Campo

After our July meeting we will have our monthly photo activity and we’re visiting the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum in Campo. They have an impressive collection of steam locomotives, diesel engines, and much more! Admission to the museum is free, but they do rely on donations. Our monthly activities are open to the public and not restricted to club members. Hope to see you there!

On March 17th 2018 our club met at the Motor Transport Museum in Campo – the weather was not very cooperative that day, but five of us braved the elements and had photographic fun with the old decaying vehicles in the yard, and in the shop were they are restored.

January 20th Activity: Ramona Hawk Watch

On January 20 we visit a Hawk Watch Event of the Wildlife Research Institute. The Hawk Watch is held every Saturday in January and February – you can go any Saturday, but our club will meet as a group on Saturday, January 20th.

This is a fantastic opportunity to get up close with beautiful birds even when you do not have a long telephoto lens – the birds sitting on perches or with their handlers will make it possible to get much, much closer than you normally would in the wild. Nevertheless, please be extremely respectful to both people and animals.
