Main Presentation – 7 PM
This month we have not one, but two great photographers to talk about photography at the San Diego Zoo. Both have amazing work and are sure to inspire you not just at the Zoo and Safari Park, but everywhere you take your camera.
Jerry Roberts is a San Diego based professional photographer. He has been working in San Diego since 1979. His freelance expertise has led him through multiple areas of photography in his career. His primary efforts included advertising photographs for multiple companies, including the Hotel del Coronado, Morris Animal Foundation, Ascend Media and Kennedy Space Center, to name a few. In addition to his many advertising projects, he has photographed weddings, professional football and rugby, and was the Sea World photographer in San Diego for thirteen years, and manager of photography for the Marketing Department at Sea World. His current freelance work includes working with Ted Walton in leading photography workshops for the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park.
Ted Walton: My interest in photography began as a teenager in the chaotic 1960’s in the deep, flat south. Seeing the world through National Geographic, Life, Time and Newsweek, I knew I had to have a camera. Following Liberal Arts studies at Louisiana State University, I studied photographic arts and science at the Brookes Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, CA, receiving a B. A. degree in 1984. I have since lived and worked mostly in Southern California as a commercial photographer – maintaining a list of local and national clients who require that I deliver top level illustrative portraiture, advertising images, manufacturing scenes and product photography for clients that include the USPS, US General Services Administration, SDG&E, Sempra Energy, Shell, Ericcson Wireless Communications, Inc, Solar, Phillips Lighting, Honeywell, Walmart, Zeiss Vision and The Maritime Museum of San Diego. Thanks, in part, to the diverse nature of my client history and my love of photography, my photographic style and abilities continue to grow and change with each new photographic challenge, especially including the challenge of the non-stop evolution of photographic technology. When not photographing for clients or conducting photo workshops with Jerry Roberts at the San Diego Zoo or Safari Park, I enjoy spending my free time with my wife, also an avid photographer, hiking and photographing in the beautiful landscapes which we are so lucky to enjoy here in San Diego County and the Southwestern US.

Intermission and MemberShare – Immediately Following
After the main presentation, we will have a brief intermission where you can pay your Photo Club Membership in person and purchase tickets for our sponsors raffle.
MemberShare will occur after the intermission.
Please note: Send 5 images via Dropbox to Steve Ross. You no longer need to resize your images. Instructions are here and they cover the details of getting the images to us.
The most important changes are that with the growth of the club and increase in meeting attendance, we must take the steps of limiting each member to 5 images and we will no longer be displaying non-member images in MemberShare.
Please invite your friends to join us for an informative and great evening! You’re sure to run right out to the Zoo or Safari Park after the great presentation.
