Main Presentation: Birds of Mexico (and Fish Tacos)
Blake Shaw has been photographing birds in Baja California for the past eight years. He will share his favorite spots for finding and photographing birds in Baja, from Ensenada to Cabo San Lucas, from sea level to 9,000 feet, from California Condors to Xantus’s Hummingbirds.
Learn what species can be found only in the Baja peninsula and the best places to find them.
Fish tacos are not served at the meeting, but you may want to go out for fish tacos afterwards!

About Blake Shaw
Blake Shaw is a San Diego-born photographer and physician.
An original member of the Ordover Project photography gallery in Solana Beach, he has displayed his fine-art and nature photography around San Diego for the past fifteen years.
His fourth solo exhibition of bird photography at Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center begins in late August.
In 2016, six of his photos were chosen for the San Diego Natural History Museum’s Birds of the World exhibition.
His photographs have appeared in Birdwatcher’s Digest, Living Bird Magazine, the Audubon Society Website and the Audubon Birds iPhone app. His photo “Eleven Turkey Vultures” received an Honorable Mention in the 2016 Audubon Magazine Photography Awards.
His Route 66 photos have been displayed at the Route 66 Museum in Barstow.
He has taught in Sierra Club workshops at Foster Lodge, and he shares a new photo almost every day on his blog, www.photoabcs.com.

After the main presentation, we will have a brief intermission where you can pay your Photo Club Membership if you want to join the club and aren’t a member yet, and purchase tickets for our sponsors raffle.

Deadline for MemberShare submissions: Wednesday, July 18th, 9pm. Please don’t wait until the very last minute to submit the photos you want to share! We need time to prepare the image presentation.

Members are welcome to display their work in our meeting room. If you have a framed print and an easel, bring it in and set it up at 6:30 PM for everyone to see!
The Photo Section of the Sierra Club San Diego Chapter began in 1984 and has grown to be among the largest photo clubs in San Diego County. Our members are artists, travelers, humanitarians, and conservationists. We support most genres of photography and welcome new members to our group.
